Sunday vigils

For the last twelve years”and counting”OREPA members have gathered on Sunday afternoon at 5:00pm at the gates of the Y12 Nuclear Weapons Complex in Oak Ridge, TN to witness to peace at the entrance to a plant that plans for the destruction of the planet. We may be playing games, sharing readings, singing”each week is different as members volunteer to lead vigils. We’ve thrown Tai Chi, walked a labyrinth, decorated a Christmas Tree, dramatized Dr. Seuss’s Butter Battle Book complete with props. On the third Sunday of each month, we adjourn the vigil and head to Jack and Lee Hoefer’s house for a potluck dinner.

The Sunday vigils are non-confrontational, and they are likely to feed the soul and the mind”so join us each Sunday, rain or shine, at 5:00pm at the East Bear Creek Entrance to the Y12 plant.

Sunday Vigil at Y-12 in Oak Ridge Tennessee

Sunday Vigil

OREPA has held Sunday vigils every week for more than 22 years at the main entrance to the Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Complex (intersection of Scarboro Rd and East Bear Creek Road). We will now be holding the vigil at 4:00PM ET during the winter months so we don’t have to be sitting out in the dark. We are outdoors and space our chairs; when covid numbers are up, we encourage people to wear masks. Bring your own chair, we have some umbrellas for sun shade or rain.
