Tell the Taxpayer rally

The only thing worse than government pork is secret government pork. So when we saw the UPF bomb plant would get $575 million dollars in next year’s budget”bringing the total to more than $3 BILLION dollars!”and even then the design for the bomb plant will not be complete”we were outraged. What is that money being spent on?

So we asked Senator Alexander. More than a hundred of us wrote. OREPA sent a letter with 16 itemized questions. We got a three paragraph form letter back providing a vague assurance that the Senator knew what was going on because he holds secret meetings with Bechtel and Oak Ridge officials. BUT HE REFUSED TO ANSWER ANY OF OUR QUESTIONS!

We’re determined to get answers. As citizens, we have a right to know. As a Senator (who chairs the committee that controls this budget), Alexander has a duty to disclose. After all, it’s our money.

Join us on Thursday, April 14 for a Tell the Taxpayer rally in front of the IRS office in the John J. Duncan federal building at the corner of Cumberland Avenue and Locust Street in downtown Knoxville.

We get the government we demand”and OREPA is demanding answers.
