Transform Now Plowshares Sentencing

Michael Walli, Megan Rice and Greg Boertje-Obed will appear in federal court in Knoxville, Tennessee to be sentenced by Judge Amul Thapar for their July 28, 2012 Transform Now Plowshares action. Convicted in May 2013 by a jury of charges including depredation of property and sabotage, the court will hear testimony from Bishop Tom Gumbleton, John LaForge and others before deciding the sentences for Megan, Michael and Greg.

Sentencing will take place in federal court in Knoxville, located between Cumberland Avenue and Main Street in downtown Knoxville and the south end of Market Street. Seating may be limited; those wishing to attend sentencing must have a picture ID to enter the courthouse.

 

A consolidated sentencing hearing will begin at 9:00am to be followed by individual sentencings for Michael, Megan and Greg.

 

Following the sentencing, supporters will gather at St James Episcopal Church, 1101 N Broadway in Knoxville, TN to discuss future activities to address the ongoing production of nuclear weapons of mass destruction at the Y12 Nuclear Weapons Complex including exploration of plans for a national gathering on August 6, 2015.

Sunday Vigil

OREPA has held Sunday vigils every week for more than 22 years at the main entrance to the Y-12 Nuclear Weapons Complex (intersection of Scarboro Rd and East Bear Creek Road) at 5:00pm ET. We are outdoors and space our chairs; when covid numbers are up, we encourage people to wear masks. Bring your own chair, we have some umbrellas for sun shade or rain.
